Try this sequence

  1. Rinse the paper filter thoroughly with hot water, then discard the rinse water.

  3. Wet the grounds first and wait briefly before pouring the rest in slow circles.
  4. Keep the water stream gentle and avoid letting the bed run completely dry midway through the pour.
